Sea Fishing - The largest Marlin Catch - Tobago

Blue Marlin landed off Castara
Angler Brendan Bernard
yesterday caught a Blue Marlin weighing 1005.9 lbs, the largest Blue Marlin
catch on record in a locally-based game fishing tournament.
The previous record was 890 pounder caught five years ago.
Bernard was a member of the team aboard ‘Predator’ participating in the Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament which took place between May 9 and 12.
For landing Blue Marlin weighing more than 1,000 lbs, Bernard and four fellow anglers have won a Mercedes Benz. The boat was captained by Brendan Farfan and included anglers Peter Reid, Simon Bernard and Michael Rostant.
The tournament began in 1995 at Pigeon Point, Tobago.
Now relocated to the north end of Tobago in Charlotteville, the Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament pulls in anglers from from the Caribbean to North and South America, and Europe.

We are just letting you know that we are all safe at home back in Canada, but would like to let you know that our Tobago trip was very memorable and my family loved it, Adrian and myself actually woke up the next morning at 5:30am just to see the sunrise it was breathtaking, the house was extremely comfortable and enjoyable, I thank you again for your co-operation and patience and hospitality, and I hope we could stay in touch cause we found our staple place if we would like to get away again. We have also spread the word about the villa so don't be surprised if you happen to get a few bookings this year.

Learning to Sail in the Caribbean is a fantastic location where the sun always shines and the trade winds always blow, you will learn all the practical points required to become confident in sailing and take this great sport to the next level. You’ll visit isolated bays and beaches for lunch and snorkel in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea or perhaps just take a refreshing swim. You will be taught the basic yacht handling requirements and try your hand at the helm, assist with sail and rope handling and get to know how a yacht actually works.

Fleetwing of Finstock on a roomy 45 foot Gulfstar sloop, American design yacht ideal for the Caribbean waters, she sleeps 7 in comfort and has 2 heads a fully equipped galley all instrumentation and navigation electronics, full safety equipment life raft, life jackets, a large wheel, full canopy for sun shade, easily managed flat decks, a 50HP Perkins engine, electric anchor winch, furling sails, and a Caribe dingy with outboard.
She will cruise at 7 knots and is very comfortable to sail.

The 7 Day Package Itinerary.
Day 1, Meet and greet from the airport and get settled into the villa, take a dingy ride to the yacht “Fleetwing” for your introduction, back to the villa for dinner and a relaxing evening.
Day 2, After breakfast take a short car ride to Store Bay to the yacht. Have a safety and introduction briefing of the yacht facilities. Take an afternoon and sunset sail getting you sailing and trying your part on the helm. Back to the villa for dinner and rest up in preparation for day 3
Day 3, Back on the yacht for a full day’s sail visiting isolated bays and find a suitable anchorage for your first night at sea.
Day 4, Raise the anchor after breakfast and set sail to more part of the Island learning sailing techniques on the way and then stopping off for snorkeling swimming and a BBQ Lunch. Back to the villa to refresh.
Day 5, A day of your choice which could include another day sail, an Island tour, sightseeing, or relaxing at the villa.
Day 6, A day sail covering all the points that you fill you need help with to boost your confidence and preparation for the next steps to your sailing hobby.
Day 7, A sad day, but still time for an early morning sail and off to the airport.
